Brooks Walker, the inaugural Deseret News Boys Humanitarian of the Year, enjoyed a remarkable high school experience through his extensive involvement and service at Skyline High. The Student Body Vice President, he was also dedicated athlete as was a four-year varsity starter on the baseball team and earned varsity letters in football.

Brooks dedicated over 420 hours to community service, receiving the Joanie Daily Service Scholar Award for his efforts. His projects included feeding the homeless through the Good Samaritan House and Fill the Pot Ministry, supporting special needs students through Buddy Lunch and the Special Olympics, and participating in a humanitarian mission to Tonga. His passion for music allowed him to perform for nursing homes and local events, further strengthening his community ties. Brooks’ diverse involvement and dedication to service define him as a truly exceptional individual.
