Daniel Simmons

As polite as he is elite, the 2024 Deseret News Male Athlete of the Year set a standard over the past two years that may never be duplicated. A BYU signee, he finishes his high school career as a two-time 6A state cross country champion and a two-time Gatorade National Cross Country Athlete of the Year. On the track, he was also a two-time state champion in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters. His 3,200-meter time this past spring was the fastest posted by any high school runner in the country in 2024. The Deseret News Male Athlete of the Year, for the second straight year, is American Fork senior Daniel Simmons.
